What is POLYMICRO?

POLYMICRO Competence Centre is the European service provider for custom micro-optics. It is a cluster of five companies working together with many years experience in micro-optics made of polymers.

POLYMICRO was founded April 2002 by the following partners in Europe:

What is the aim of POLYMICRO?

POLYMICRO assists companies and insti-tutes in developing and manufacturing polymer micro-optical components and microsystems - thereby increasing the competitiveness of European industry.


What does POLYMICRO offer?

POLYMICRO offers services in polymer micro-optics – starting from materials identification and development to research, product development and proto-typing up to series production in the millions.

POLYMICRO also offers consulting in pro-duction technology, fabrication equipment and product development and supports customers with market analyses and feasibility studies.

Customers can access POLYMICRO's service at any stage of product develop-ment.

What does POLYMICRO produce?

One part of POLYMICRO's service is the production of custom micro-optical components and systems. POLYMICRO uses several micro-technologies for polymer replication that are cost efficient from prototype fabrication up to mass production like UV-embossing, injection moulding, reel-to-reel embossing, hot embossing and direct laser-writing. This variety of technologies allows POLYMICRO to produce all kinds of refractive and diffractive components and products like Micro-Lens Arrays, Polymer Waveguides, Optical Sensors, Beam Splitters and Fibre-Connectors.

POLYMICRO supports customers with a need for low-cost micro-optical components support in using micro-optics in their products POLYMICRO's customers are ranging from small and medium sized companies up to global players.
